Awareness of PNI (Psychoneuroimmunology)

Raising Awareness of PNI allows us all to benefit from the research and growth in this area of science.

We all strive to be well and stay healthy.

Understanding the interactions of the brain, the mind, the body, and the signs of good cohesion, enable us to reduce stress and be more innovative and self-creative in our approach to modern-day emotional living.

Dealing with stress doesn't need to be stressful. We all can calm our internal system by addressing the mind and body to generate a chemical response favourable tour a sense of well-being.

Independence

PNI must NOT BE over-associated with a particular illness or intervention technique, irrespective of its success. PNI is intrinsically holistic, and an over-association with any independent modality would significantly reduce the scope of the wellness opportunity which PNI offers.

 PNI is for the people.

PNI amalgamates effectively with various health and wellness modalities emotionally, physically, spiritually, and creatively, but it is not a cure for something.

PNI provides health-enhancing information to manage the way we view wellness.

Unity

PNI highlights unity in wellness and self-accountability in amalgamating our personal and professional care whilst desiring self-intervention, and self-efficacy, through personalised innovative and creative self-expression.

Periodically re-creating ourselves happens throughout our lives; we don't need to wait for a challenge to change us. We can choose how to love and live our lives.

When we understand the changes we can make through understanding the connective nature of PNI, we have moved towards self-generating wellness.

If we can make ourselves sick, we can make ourselves well. Focusing on wellness and creativity is a way to align. In addition, we aim to generate an internal environment that serves us well, so irrespective of how we are presently feeling, we know we can change.

Changing

Change provides more choice when we connect with our inner voice and the need to be an expression of self beyond what we term unproductive, self-reductive stressful words of self that we do not aim to repress but express in innovative, health-promoting creative ways.

The KEY is UNITY, as we focus on the art of being well.

The Principles of PNI have been summarised and form the basic building blocks of the PNI Awareness Test.

Important Notice

The interconnective nature of the mind and body means that we can inadvertently compromise a person's level of wellness when we deal with the body or mind independently.

Interactions

The main interests of PNI are the interactions between the nervous system, immune system, mental processes, physical manifestations, and our ability to manage the internal stress response, the chemical response of the Bodymind.

PNI is a systematic study of how the mind and body work in unity to enable us to attain optimal health.

These principles of Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) highlight the interconnectedness between the mind, body, and emotions and emphasise the importance of a holistic approach to wellness.

Stress is a fundamental component of life. Regardless of the cause, we are part of the effect.

In simple terms, PNI is looking at why people's immune systems go down when they are under stress and, from a PNI Personal Development perspective, how we can mitigate stress to recalibrate our immune response when it becomes compromised by the changes and challenges of life.

  1. Emotions and Physical Health: PNI recognises the bidirectional relationship between emotions and physical health. Our emotional well-being can impact our physical wellness and vice versa. Understanding and addressing emotional states is crucial for maintaining our overall well-being.
  2. Mind-Body Connection: PNI views the mind and body as a unified system. The thoughts, emotions, and beliefs of the mind can influence the functioning of the body and its organs. Recognising this connection enables a comprehensive approach to healthcare.
  3. Proactive Personal and Professional Management: Combining personal efforts and professional guidance is essential in managing health proactively. Taking an active role in self-care and seeking professional support when needed promotes overall well-being.
  4. Self-Healing Activation: PNI encourages a deeper understanding of oneself and the internal environment. Understanding our body-mind system can activate self-healing mechanisms and promote optimal health.
  5. Unified Mind-Body Approach: Nurturing the mind and body in a unified manner is essential for maintaining a healthy "Bodymind." This integrated perspective acknowledges the interplay between hormonal responses and the mind-body connection.
  6. Professional Support and Independence: PNI advocates for seeking support from wellness professionals while maintaining personal independence and self-supportiveness. It acknowledges the role of professionals in providing guidance while empowering individuals to take responsibility for their own health.
  7. Accountability for Choices: PNI emphasises personal accountability for the choices we make regarding our health. Our decisions and actions impact our well-being, and taking responsibility for them is essential for positive outcomes.
  8. Power of Belief: The placebo effect, where belief in a treatment produces a positive response, highlights the power of our beliefs on our health. Recognising the influence of our mindset and beliefs can significantly impact our well-being.
  9. Recognising Ineffective Thinking: PNI acknowledges that stress-related feelings can be signs of ineffective thinking. Stress-related emotions indicate potential maladaptive thinking patterns that may negatively affect health.
  10. Nocebo Effect: The nocebo effect is the opposite of the placebo effect, where negative beliefs or expectations can lead to adverse health outcomes. PNI recognises the influence of negative beliefs and attitudes on health and aims to address them.
  11. Self-Interventions: Understanding our ability to form self-interventions allows us to gain more control over our thoughts, emotions, and actions. We can promote better overall health by implementing positive changes in our mindset and behaviours.
  12. Personal Development From a PNI Personal Development perspective, it is crucial to comprehend the significance of fostering an upbeat mood as a bodily chemical response. This understanding allows us to recognise that generating positive emotions is pivotal in promoting a healthier immune system.
  13. Immune System The nervous and immune systems work in tandem, and by proactively cultivating positivity, we can positively influence the intricate interplay between our mental and physical well-being.
  14. Emotions and Chemical Responses: PNI acknowledges that emotions generate chemical responses within the body that can be measured. Emotional states have physiological manifestations, and addressing emotional health is crucial for optimal well-being.
  15. Holistic Wellness: PNI recognises that emotional illness is connected to physiological health. Mental and emotional well-being significantly impact overall health, and addressing emotional issues is essential for holistic care.

By embracing these principles, individuals can adopt a comprehensive approach to wellness by considering the mind-body connection as a form of self-care and personal development.

PNI CHEMISTRY AND SELF-CONNECTION:

  1. Self-Awareness and Health: Being conscious of ourselves and our thinking allows us to monitor our level of health proactively. By cultivating self-awareness, we can better understand our needs and take appropriate actions for our well-being.
  2. Thoughts and Brain Chemistry: Our thoughts profoundly influence our brain, which releases chemistry that aligns with our thoughts. Positive thoughts can trigger the release of beneficial chemicals, while negative thoughts can generate stress hormones that affect our overall health.
  3. Intellectual Expansion and Consciousness: Expanding our intellectual capacity enables us to become more conscious of our needs and find appropriate solutions. Continuous learning and intellectual growth contribute to greater self-awareness and overall well-being.
  4. Modern-Day Health Challenges: Despite advancements in medical science, degenerative diseases and cancer continue to pose challenges. Recognising the role of our thoughts, feelings, and actions in influencing our health empowers us to make choices that support our well-being.
  5. Influence of Thoughts, Feelings, and Actions: How we think, feel, and act can either help or harm us. Acknowledging the impact of our mindset and behaviours allows us to make conscious choices that promote health and well-being.
  6. Openness to Change and Self-Care: Embracing self-connection, change, and innovative forms of self-care.
  • Being conscious of ourselves and our thinking is a proactive way to be aware of our level of health.
  • Thoughts influence our brain, and the brain releases chemistry that matches our thoughts.
  • The more we expand our brains intellectually, the more conscious we become of our needs and the solutions required.
  • Despite the advances which have been made in medical science, degenerative diseases and cancer remain a modern-day challenge.
  • We can help or harm ourselves by how we think, feel, and act.
  • We remain open to self-connection, change and development, and innovative forms of self-care.
  • We make time to slow down and combine our mind, body, spirit, and soul.

PNI SELF-INTERVENTION:

  1. Understanding Stress Duality: Recognizing the dual nature of stress allows us to develop a balanced approach to its management. We can differentiate between beneficial stress promoting growth and chronic stress negatively impacting our health.
  2. Support and Self-Support: Choosing to seek support from others while maintaining personal self-support is essential. Balancing reliance on professional guidance with personal empowerment promotes well-being and self-healing potential.
  3. Perception Management: Managing our perception of life and adopting a positive mindset can significantly impact our emotional and physical well-being. Cultivating a resilient and optimistic outlook enhances our ability to cope with challenges.
  4. Emotional Resilience: Building emotional resilience equips us to navigate life's challenges more effectively. Developing coping strategies, fostering emotional intelligence, and seeking support networks contribute to emotional well-being.
  5. Support Network: Building a support network, including friends, family, and professionals, provides valuable resources for overall health and well-being. A support system can alleviate stress and provide assistance when needed.
  6. Health-Promoting Emotions: Generating positive emotions, such as joy, gratitude, and love, has a beneficial impact on our health. Nurturing and cultivating these emotions supports our well-being and contributes to self-healing potential.
  7. Stress Management Techniques: Learning and implementing stress management techniques, such as relaxation exercises, meditation, and mindfulness practices, can help reduce stress levels and promote overall health.
  8. Accountability: Remaining accountable for the choices we make regarding our health empowers us to take ownership and actively participate in our well-being. Being responsible for our actions and decisions enhances self-care and self-development.
  9. Integrated Healthcare: Integrating different aspects of healthcare, including conventional and complementary approaches, allows for a comprehensive and personalised approach to support overall well-being.
  10. Targeted Support: Seeking support that is specifically tailored to our individual needs and desired outcomes enhances the effectiveness of interventions and promotes personal growth and development.

We can control how we think, feel and act by understanding a range of self-interventions.

  • Understand the duality of stress.
  • Choose to be supported while remaining self-supportive.
  • Manage our perception of life.
  • Build emotional resilience.
  • Build a network of support.
  • Generate health-promoting emotions.
  • Learn stress management techniques.
  • Gain the skill of relaxation, meditation and mindfulness.
  • Remain accountable for the choices that we make.
  • Amalgamate our healthcare.
  • Attain support that is targeted and tailored to our specific outcomes.

PNI SELF-AWARENESS

Self-intervention and Self-awareness are closely integrated because stress can be both a motivator and a detractor.

Developing self-awareness empowers us to recognize the patterns and triggers that influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. By gaining this understanding, we can consciously choose to redirect negative thoughts, cultivate positive emotions, and engage in healthy actions that support our well-being.

Recognising the difference between beneficial stress and harmful stress allows us to harness the positive aspects and mitigate the negative impact on our Bodymind.

Choose to be supported while remaining self-supportive.

Seeking support from others is important for our well-being, whether it's through therapy, counselling, or talking to trusted friends and family. However, it's equally essential to develop self-supportive practices, such as self-reflection, self-care routines, and self-compassion. Balancing external support with self-nurturing helps create a solid foundation for personal growth.

We can learn to manage the perceptions of our life.

Our perception shapes our reality and influences our emotional well-being.

By consciously shifting our perspective to focus on the positive aspects of life, practising gratitude, and reframing challenges as opportunities for growth, we can cultivate a more optimistic outlook and improve our overall well-being. Build emotional resilience. Emotional resilience allows us to adapt to stress, bounce back from setbacks, and maintain mental and emotional well-being.

Developing resilience involves building coping mechanisms, nurturing a positive mindset, and fostering strong social connections, and attaining professional support.

Surrounding ourselves with a supportive network of individuals who share our values and aspirations is crucial for personal development. Building connections with like-minded people, joining support groups or communities, and seeking mentors or role models, and self-support workers, can provide valuable guidance, encouragement, and inspiration on our journey toward wellness and growth sections, and seek professional support when needed.

PNI PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Cultivating positive emotions, such as joy, gratitude, love, and compassion, contributes to our mental, emotional, and physical health. Engaging in activities that bring us joy, practising gratitude daily, and fostering healthy relationships are powerful ways to generate and sustain health-promoting emotions.

    • Build a community of wellness.
    • Promote hope, health, and happiness.
    • Proactively manage our internal emotional environment as we deal with life's challenges.
    • Activate the correct hormonal response so that stress does not accumulate and becomes chronic.
    • Secure the emotional and physical support that we need.
    • Aim to counteract negative emotions from the body and mind before chronic stress symptoms emerge.
    • Understand the power of consciousness.

    An interview with Bruce Lipton.

Bruce Lipton - 'The Power of Consciousness' - Interview by Iain ...

    • When we review what we think, we can identify what thoughts we need to change to bring calmness and clarity to our lives.
    • The body interprets our mental state, and any form of physical damage or neglect contributes to our emotional state.

    Candace Pert PhD

'There are bi-directional communication links amongst the nervous system, the endocrine (hormone) system, and the immune system.'

    Emotional Physical

The emotional aspects of ourselves determine our physical manifestations.

We don't evolve independently of our thinking.

Stress modulates the activities of the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems.

When we change the way we think, we change the way we feel.

Q1 Why do we need to care for our physical health?

Q2 Why do we need to care for our emotional health?

Q3 Why should we respect that they are combined?

PNI aims to attain a unified approach to health, knowing that the body and mind are connected.

    • Whether we choose to raise our awareness regarding how our emotional health is affecting our physical health is a personal choice. Irrespective of this, our physical and emotional selves cannot and do not separate.
    • Every emotion has a physical counterpart.
    • Every physical ailment has an emotional attachment.
    • Emotions live in the body, not just the mind.
    • Professional care needs to amalgamate with personal care.
    • Changing the way, we think changes us biochemically.

    ILLNESS DOESNT JUST HAPPEN

If we combine inadequate nutrition, lack of emotional support, and financial challenges, together with a lack of hope, control, and purpose in life, we have created within ourselves an environment for illness and disease.

     PNI  PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SELF-CARE

    • Building our awareness of the wellness options available to us is something we can do when we feel well to ward off sickness. We don't need to be sick to benefit from the range of wellness treatments available to us.
    • Combining our personal and professional care can be achieved by taking responsibility for combining our mind and body care. We have access to a range of wellness modalities that can help us to release the emotional build-up of physically repressed emotions.
    • Many professionals working with your emotional state will help you to understand the physical impact of emotional pain, strain, illness and disease. That said, we need not give up accountability for ourselves in the art of being and staying well.
    • Self-care is combined care, and we are responsible for working with the mind and body directly at the same time.
    • The nervous system is the immune system, and they do not function separately.
    • The spotlight is on our internal environment and how it is affected by stress, highlighting what we can do to change the negative biochemical response that stress generates.

    Organic Illnesses

PNI does not disregard the organic nature of illnesses such as bacteria and germs nor deny that some illnesses are genetically inherited.

    Traditional

Traditional mind and body and alternative medicine can effectively alleviate the symptoms of many illnesses, but they are not the whole package. To fully enable emotional suppression to be released from the body, we need to ensure that the associated physical counterpart of the emotional pain is released through physical intervention. As professionals, we can offer a range of resources and support. This support needs to be combined.

We can be facilitators of support by helping each individual find the range of solutions they need to maintain wellness, which integrates mind and body care to calm the Bodymind.

Psychoneuroimmunology is a big word that stands for the small changes that matter.

The main interests of PNI are the interactions between the nervous system, immune system, mental processes, and health. In simple terms, PNI is looking at why people's immune systems go down under stress.

Please note: the areas highlighted in green throughout this site are key points of PNI information about the PNI Awareness Test.

    Pathways

PNI is a pathway that opens up discussions on self-care and self-efficacy and how emotionally induced illnesses and wellness are formed by how we perceive ourselves and the world around us.

PNI highlights the importance of the combined mind and body care and our need to take responsibility for ensuring that the interrelated aspects of nature are attended to in unison. Our mind, body, and spirit are one, and we are encouraged to review the world around us in a way that mitigates stress by combining mind and body care.

With the above in mind, we pay specific attention to the way we view our ability to be well and stay healthy from an internal chemical reactivation system.

Through PNI research, we can understand that the mind is the body and the body is the mind, and what we think generates a chemical response that we will refer to herein as the Bodymind. This chemical exchange of information provides scientific proof that emotions are inseparable from our physiology.

    Psychoneuroimmunology - PNI

P "Psychological" for the mind's emotions, feelings, and perception.

N "Neuro" for the neuroendocrine system - the nervous system and hormone systems.

I "Immunology" for the immune system.

The inter-connective nature of the mind and body means that we can inadvertently compromise a person's level of wellness when we deal with the body or mind independently, without unity.

    Robert Adler and Nicholas Cohen

'PNI was the gateway that informed us that the immune system is not autonomous.'

PNI systematically studies the relationship between the brain, thoughts and emotions and the immune system. In 1975 Robert Adler (a psychologist) and Nicholas Cohen (an immunologist) demonstrated, at the University of Rochester, that the nervous system can affect the immune system, and termed the name Psychoneuroimmunology.

PNI emotions are directly related to the impact on our health and the immune system.

The nervous system and the immune system work together.

'Emotions are chemicals that can help or harm us'

    'what we think we feel.'

'So every thought, emotion, and belief in the past, present, or future, real or imaginary, has a neurochemical consequence.'

    Bio-Chemical Perception

The PNI spotlight is on our internal environment and how it is affected by stress, highlighting what we can do to change the negative biochemical response that stress generates.

How we perceive an event directly impacts our immune system, affecting our emotional and physical health; this provides us with an understanding of the importance of managing internal and external emotional conflict, which aggravates stress.

The central nervous system modulates the immune and endocrine systems.

The endocrine system comprises hormone-secreting glands that modulate the body's function. We don't need to aim to detangle this diverse and complex chemical regulating system; we need to respect the scientific findings relating to our internal hormonal response system and care for ourselves and others accordingly.

    Organic Illnesses

PNI does not disregard the organic nature of illnesses such as bacteria and germs nor deny that some diseases are genetically inherited.

    Traditional

Traditional mind and body and alternative medicine can effectively alleviate the symptoms of many illnesses, but they are not the whole package.

     Self-Efficacy

Self-efficacy is critical to building the emotional resilience required to generate health-promoting natural chemicals that help us in the desire to manage stress.

When individuals are offered the appropriate resources and support, their potential for recovery and self-improvement increases.

The brain controls all of the functions in the body. What affects the brain and how we think affects us physically and biologically.

We have a natural process of thinking and feeling feeling and thinking; the point is, how do we form a relationship between this system without combining our mind and body care?

What we think, feel, and what we believe generates a chemical response that provides positive or negative consequences depending on our state of mind.

    Candace Pert PhD

'The body and mind are one, what you think and say impacts the state of your cells. Your spleen, every lymph node, and all floating immune cells are in close communication with the brain.'

It is put forward that molecules are a second nervous system, as it allows the different systems of the body to communicate with each other (i.e., the endocrine, neurological, and immune)

Molecules of emotions are also termed 'information substances.' These informational substances form a chemical response within us by how we think, feel and act.

Candace Pert, Ph.D. - stated in her book 'Molecules of Emotions' that 'emotions live and run every system of the body.'

The brain can link memories and emotions using chemical signals that tell other parts of the brain and the body how to respond when that memory is triggered. By understanding that these communication chemicals exist, we can reprogram the brain to disconnect negative emotions and feelings by turning off the cell from sending out those molecules. This is an integative progress, and we can respect this process by ensuring that we do not think of our mind and body as separate but as part of a whole system of psychology and physiology.

When we have pain in the body, it will have a direct emotional link and vice versa.

Our emotions have a direct impact on our immune system.

The brain sends out information substances in response to the various problems throughout the body. It was believed this was a one-way communication process, that the brain informed the body.

It is also now proven that the body also communicates with the brain.

We often think of the link of mind to body, but this is a multifunctional communication process.

Neuroscientist Francisco Varela defines the immune system as the 'body's brain.'

'Immune cells travel in the bloodstream throughout the body, contacting virtually every other cell.'

Thoughts and feelings are not simply our perception of self; they are the substance of self, our physicality: heartache, upset stomach, pain in the neck.

    Self-Generating Wellness

The aim is to self-generate wellness by calming the Bodymind.

PNI demonstrates the direct association of the mind and body that we need to pay attention to - this is covered under the sub-heading 'DAC' Direct Associated Care.

We can change our perception of events in various ways, and remaining self-connected in mind, body, and spirit takes a foundation of belief in our ability to contribute to the healing process.

Lack of hope closes down our self-generating wellness potential because we disconnect emotionally, which is a form of physical misalignment and spiritual stagnation.

The body works in unity with the mind and spirit, or our reasoning works by the body, mind and spirit, meaning the energy we generate. Then there is the formed essence of ourselves that is difficult to measure, but the chemical response of our Bodymind relates to it.

The body-mind is not mystical or magical; it is measurable in terms of a self-activated chemical response.

Body-mind is seen as the integrated relationship between the body and the mind.

Some news might surprise you: the Bodymind connection is not a mystical, otherworldly, nebulous thing. It exists—and you don’t need to be a yogi to access it! There is scientific evidence to support a centuries-old philosophy: that the body and the mind are not two separate spheres but are, in fact, deeply entwined and generate our internal living environment.

We live in the perceived stories of our mind-body-spirit.

We have autonomy over our self-creation and ability to self-generate wellness. Some stories we can get addicted to before we realise they are detrimental to our need and desire to be healthy.

    The Key is Unity

Unity is defined as singular when' two become one as in two people uniting physically to become a loving expression of two becoming one. In the term of PNI, the mind and body have never separated. Still, for communication purposes, they were often defined as separate units that can be united, but the uniting process is like describing the movement of your arm to be different from your brain, and subsequently, the thought of movement transpired via the mind; non of this is a separate action, it is unity from the self, of the self, the self the lives in and of its life.

It is the way we communicate that separates our perception.

We are an entwinement of our perceptions; this is good news as it gives us control over our ability and wellness status.

    Autonomy

We are mind, body, and spirit or mind, body, and energy. There is no separation of self from self; that said, we can project ourselves as someone else to see ourselves more clearly. If you would like to experience this, do a Bryon Katy Worksheet on anything that is bothering you and see how you can protect yourself from the aspect of another person, especially someone causing conflict, past, present, or future.

Whichever term of expression we put forward in conversation, 'mind' or 'body' 'spirit' or 'energy' etc.

We need not separate the wholeness of self by thinking of the mind or body as separate units.

Many terms of expression separate the mind from the body, or the body and mind or from our spirit, but in reality, we are united: mind-body-spirit-energy.

We can be reflected in someone else to see ourselves, which seems oxymoronic regarding autonomy.

Change is a process we can relax into as we ask, 'Is this true?' See The work of Bryon Katie

What we believe is critical, as our imaginations can and do run riot, is to make sure you work for you to effectively connect your mind and body in a way that activates an effective life-sustaining response within you so your immune system can do its job.

Thinking is part of the body's defence and recovery mechanisms.

The above comment may seem like a small thing to understand, but acting on this understanding makes a world of difference in how we view ourselves.

Generate a healthy Bodymind through the knowledge of psychoneuroimmunology.

Reduce stress proactively. It is easy to be you when you know who you are without the beliefs that do not serve you well, which are unattended and stressful.

We are conscious people watching and relating to everything in our world, including the people in it.

We can aim to be consciously at peace; an acceptance of peace is acceptance of life.

We can turn our lives around.

    Personal Responsibility

We can focus on wellness productively when we are well. This enables us to build a robust framework for understanding what part we play in our wellness and recovery program. Wellness is an ongoing pursuit that requires combined personal and professional care.

The Principles of PNI outlined above form a framework for further understanding the need for combined mind and body care. This care is a professional consideration as well as a personal one.

    PNI Practitioners

Being PNI Aware forms the understanding of the combined nature of the mind and body and chemical activation of the Bodymind, and the need for Direct Associated Care DAC

PNI Practitioners will be willing to support themselves and others in utilising their internal and external resources in a unified way. We have the option to combine our personal and professional care with a focus on self-generating wellness. Thoughts, feelings and emotions benefit from being reverently considered when reviewing physical health and vice-versa.

    Accumulation

Stress and anxiety accumulate but so do positive calming thoughts. Our thoughts can generate the appropriate chemical response within ourselves to help us heal, be well, and stay well.

When we do not acknowledge our negative thinking, our thoughts accumulate and form the substance of who we are. This is the construct of psychoneuroimmunology; thoughts and feelings, conscious or otherwise, shape the content of how we relate to our sense of self. We chemically generate our living system through perception, projection, and our principles of living.

We cannot simply override our thoughts, but we can take the time required to calm our system down; this enables us to think more clearly and control our cognition. This is what we lose when we have emotionally consumed ‘cognition.’ It is known as being ‘emotionally hijacked’ or ‘triggered.’

Please take the time to consider the concepts outlined below regarding calming our internal system in terms of meditation, mindfulness, and our ability to visualise.

Meditation and Mindfulness do not just happen.

Meditation - calming our system down and letting thoughts pass without judgement.

    Mindfulness -
calming our system down and letting thoughts pass, understanding that anything disturbing can be discussed with a professional later.

If we focus on a negative and positive outcome, feelings of confusion will be generated. We can note the negative and get support for what we find disturbing. This is a form of self-care; awareness of repressed emotions when they surface. Not everything that passes through our minds can be ignored.

Not everyone feels they can meditate.

Positive thinking is not wishing for a change. It is a way to generate change proactively, but it is not as easy as it sounds.

    Meditation is a skill.

Yes, we have a natural propensity towards meditation, especially when we are calm and relaxed, hopeful or spiritually connected. Still, we can lose this form of self-connection through the strain and stress of daily life.

When we are agitated, it is hard to govern ourselves to sit in silence or listen to soothing music. It is essential to know that many good meditation coaches understand this and will lead you in a safe way to calmness. If you feel separated from such modes of activity, do a meditation session with someone else before you try it yourself.

Guiding the mind enables us to connect with ourselves more clearly; this is why meditation is so popular with mindfulness.

We can move from a negative projection of self to a positive, life-enhancing one.

This can be achieved by a range of mind interventions that respect the need for interlinking the body with emotional wellness. If we view this from a self-care perspective, we can aim to self-generate wellness by choosing to find ways to work through our emotions in a way that calms the body.

If we often think of the mind as body and the body as mind, we are starting from a good place; a solid foundation of understanding the unity of our human selves.

Fear generates fear, love creates love and so on.

When we are fearful, we become anxious and move towards what we are thinking about, so anxiety accumulates, and fear is reinforced. The point is this can happen in the mind. We can self-generate the fear response by thinking of the 'what if' and 'why.' Being aware of our need to manage the chemical reaction within places us in a better space to meditate, and we gain a pro-active mindset conducive to mindfulness.

We would not sit down to meditate in anger, and Mindfulness leads to mind-less-ness if we are unwilling to accept that life is challenging and the pursuit of happiness is not a goal or a point. Finding calmness and happiness in life can be found in the smaller moments, between the pain and strain of modern-day emotional living. We can aim to be calm when life is alarming.

Build a vision of success and visualise it often

Even if we don't believe an outcome is possible, we can set our imagination free by changing our beliefs and building our self-efficacy.

To the mind, our imagination is real!

We can use our imagination to be less fragmented.

We can choose a different path even when we can't see the endpoint.

We can visualise the best outcomes for ourselves and others.

We can own our truth by telling the truth to ourselves and making the changes we desire

Our imagination helps us to see the way forward.

Our imagination forms new ideas, images, and concepts, and the mind does not differentiate between what is true or fiction in terms of inner thinking.

Overthinking can be a form of escapism.

We do not need to view escapism as a bad thing.

Our imagination can form a distraction from unpleasant realities, similar to watching TV, having our favourite meal, or chatting with friends. Our vision helps us create solutions.

We can use our imagination pro-actively by asking ourselves questions and waiting for the answers to form from within us.

The aim is not to let our imagination run wild regarding negative thinking.

Acceptance that life is challenging or that life will form differing challenging situations can create the groundwork to build a vision of reality. We can use our imagination to calm and care and commune.

We can use our imaginations to find sunshine in the storms of life.

I understand the above words will sound flimsy if you are in crisis mode. Please believe you are stronger, smarter, and more resilient than ever. Ask yourself what life-enhancing step forward you can take in this moment. Let your imagination work with you. Just because I'm not with you doesn't mean I can't send you a hug; if you need a hug, take it now.

Self-Generating Wellness starts with the Imagination.

    Self-connection limits rejection of self

The imagination is the re-generation centre of loving, living, and life, inside and outside the chaos.

To us, our imagination is often expressed as 'larger than life, but we cannot strive without it. Use it to your advantage, and do-not let 'your imagination run away with you.' Our imagination is not a separate self; it is the brilliance of our thinking when we do not let fear blind it.
